Born in Houston, Texas, La’Nelle Gambrell attended schools in Texas and California. Her love of writing began in elementary school when she won an essay contest. That was all the encouragement she needed and she’s been writing ever since. A voracious reader since her early teens when she used to ‘borrow’ romance and mystery books from her aunt’s keeper shelf, she dreamed that someday she would write just such wonderful stories herself.

As it often happens in the real world, real life intervenes and after several forays in different directions La’Nelle found a niche. With a background in graphic design and journalism she accepted the position of art director for KIII-TV, an ABC affiliate in Corpus Christi, Texas. After several years there she left television to go into business for herself.

As the owner of La’Nelle Gambrell Advertising/Marketing in Corpus Christi Texas she spent her early years concentrating on building her business. Her expertise in corporate design and copy editing helped build a National client list that included banks, hotels, travel agencies, commuter airlines, fast-food restaurants, television and radio stations, power companies and two Texas State Senators. She wrote everything from television, newspaper and magazine ad copy and articles to press releases and speeches. She produced her own television and radio spots, edited books, articles, countless newsletters and won numerous Addy awards including a Best of Show. She even had her own weekly television show, Computer Football Forecast on the local CBS affiliate and somehow in the midst of it all . . . she met and married the love of her life.

Now, thirty years later La’Nelle is still married to the man she refers to as the best looking pilot in Arkansas. She and Joe live in the heart of the Ozarks near Mountain View, Arkansas with their five dogs, three cats and one pet deer that truly believes an apple a day (or two or three) will keep the Vet away. They all live together in the middle of the forest on a private lake where she finally has the time to pursue the other love of her life. Writing . . . this time from the heart.

When she’s not writing or editing, La’Nelle enjoys traveling, kayaking and antique shop browsing. She's also an accomplished painter, acrylics being her favorite medium. Her paintings recently won two blue ribbons and a Best of Show at the local County fair. She’s a volunteer for Safe Haven Animal Shelter, a no-kill shelter, and always reminds her friends to be responsible pet owners by having their animals spayed or neutered.
